Sulfur Crystals in a Vuggy Matrix

Bright Yellow Sulfur Rock on display at Western Museum of Mining and Industry

Each month, WMMI features a new rock or mineral. This month we feature these sulfur crystals in a Vuggy Matrix.  Native sulfur is a bright yellow, soft, odorous mineral.  This piece of sulfur has perfectly terminated crystals in brilliant yellow.  Today sulfur is mined to produce sulfuric acid which is a component for fertilizers.  Sulfur is also a component in the production of steel, cement, rubber, explosives and other products.  See this and many other rocks and minerals at your non-profit, local museum.
